Thoughts on Sailing

Sailing for me has changed as I got older. My first boat was a folding kayak I built when I was a teen. I even made a trailer to pull it behind my bicycle. Paddled the San Jaoquin Delta. This was not strictly sailing, but was my start at boating. My next boat was a Catalina 22. My current boat is a San Juan 28 named Aventura.

The 22 is a good boat to learn to sail keel boats. My high point with this boat was the week in May on the sound when I circumnavigated Vashon Island.

Aventura is a great boat for the Columbia, where I have her mored at Tomahawk Bay Marina on Hayden Island in Portland, Oregon.

This is just a start. I will do more tomorrow.
